The Petritsch family of the Chicago, Illinois area started with the emigration of two different families from the Austrian / Hungarian Empire.  
 Josef Petritsch came from Gutenstein, Kärnten, Austria, (now known as Ravne na Koroskem, Slovenia) and settled in Chicago Heights, Illinois in 1890. 
 The Zatkalik family emigrated from what is now known as Sobitiste, Zapadoslovency, Slovakia some time around 1900. 
It was on August 6, 1904, in Chicago Heights, Illinois that the two families would come together as one with the marriage of Josef Petritsch to Susan Zatkalik. The two produced eight sons between the years 1905 thru 1919 and laid the foundation for the more than one hundred decendents that followed.
Gertraud Petritsch of Ljubljana, Krain, Austria gave birth to:  
*Bartholomaeus Petritsch of Ravne na Koroskem, Slovenia who married  
+Antonia nee Gregoritsch of Vrbovsko bei Fiume, Croatia.   
They in turn were the parents of:  
**Johann Petritsch born in 1862 in Ravne na Koroskem, Slovenia , moved to Vienna in 1900, no other information available 
**Luzia Petritsch born in 1865 in Ravne na Koroskem, Slovenia, no other information available 
Other brothers and sisters may also exist. 
**Josef Petritsch born in 1870 in Ravne na Koroskem, Slovenia, died 1943  
++Susan Zatkalik born in 1881 in Sobitiste, Zapadoslovensy, Slovakia, died 1958
